What are hyakkaten (department stores)?

Hyakkaten provide top brand goods from Japan and other parts of the world.

Hyakkaten (department stores in Japan) originated when a retail shop of old standing was transformed into a Western-style department store about a century ago.  Over the subsequent century, hyakkaten have dramatically evolved.  Today, hyakkaten have earned esteemed reputations as large retail stores with a long history and proud traditions, complete with top brand goods from Japan and other parts of the world, including cosmetics, bags, jewelry, fashion, lingerie, and goods in various other product categories.

Various high-quality goods can be purchased in one-stop shopping.

An abundant assortment of goods unrivaled in the world characterizes hyakkaten in Japan. Hyakkaten feature the comprehensive arrangement of various products including women’s apparel, men’s apparel, clothing sundries, cosmetics, jewelry and ornaments, clocks, kimono, children’s goods, toys, stationery goods, and foods in a large space and in an easy-to-see manner. You can enjoy efficient shopping in a short time.

Comfortable and reliable, hyakkaten provide meticulous service.

Hyakkaten in Japan are best known for offering the world’s highest levels of amenity and hospitality. In a comfortable and classy shopping space, hyakkaten personnel assist you in shopping by providing high-quality, considerate, and prompt customer service that you cannot expect in department stores in other countries.
